Statement of Faith

Black Hills Homeschool Co-op Statement of Faith

We believe the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are the inspired, inerrant, infallible word of God and are profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.

    2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21

We believe that there is one God who is perfect and who exists eternally in 3 persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    Genesis 1; John 1:1-3; Hebrews 1:1-3; Deuteronomy 6:4: Ephesians 4:4-6; 1     Corinthians 8:6; 1 Timothy 2:5; John 14:9-10, 26; Matthew 28:18-19;

    2 Corinthians 13:14

We believe in Jesus as the Son of God both fully God and fully man. He came to us in human flesh through a virgin birth. He lived a life without sin and was sacrificed, died and was resurrected, as the atoning substitutionary sacrifice for our sins. He ascended into heaven and will bodily return to establish His kingdom and reign with peace on earth.

    Colossians 1:15; Philippians 2:5–8; Matthew 1:18–25; 1 Peter 2:24–25; Luke 24;     Hebrews 4:14–16; Acts 1:9–11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–18; Matthew 25:31–46;     Revelation 11:15–17; 20:4–6, 11–15

We believe in the Holy Spirit who is active in the life of the believer to convict of sin, guide, teach and instruct. The Holy Spirit pursues the unbeliever to convict of sin and draw that person to the offer of salvation.

    John 14:16–17; 16:7–15; 1 Cor. 6:19; Eph. 2:22; 2 Thess. 2:7,

    John 3:6; 16:7–11; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 4:30; 5:18; 2 Thess. 2:7;

    1 John 2:20–27, Acts 4:8, 31; Rom. 8:23-27

We believe that man was created in the image of God and was without sin, but freely chose to sin. That sin nature is present in all men and falls short of the glory of God. Salvation is obtained only through accepting the sacrificial atonement of Jesus through faith. By believing in Jesus, a person can become a child of God and receive the free gift of eternal life.

    Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:10, 23; John 3:3; Acts 4:12, 13:38–39; John 3:16;     Matthew 25:46, Romans 6:23, John 1:12, Galatians 3:26, Romans 8:14,

    1 John 3:10

We believe that marriage is the exclusive union between one man and one woman and the family is to be raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

    Genesis 1:27-28, Genesis 2:18-24, Matthew 19:4-9, Mark 10:5-9,

    Ephesians 5:31-33, 6:4

We believe that man and woman were created with individual and unique sexual identities, separate from each other, but with equal personal dignity and importance. We believe in refraining from any behavior or conduct supporting the change of this natural sexual identity.

    Genesis 1:26-28, Romans 1:26-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct

The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
